On its official blog, Second Life shouted out several Surveyors of the Sims as it highlighted some of the most popular “Destination” bloggers from the Second Life Blogger Network.

Destination bloggers provide an invaluable service as the tipsters of teleportation and essentially recommend engaging places for Second Lifers to explore. The featured blog represents the third installment of deep dives into the major genres of SL media, which makes it an official trifecta according to mathematicians. 

“Destination bloggers focus on exploring the many places across Second Life, from seasonal regions and art installations to hidden gems and community spaces,” said the blog. “Their posts often combine detailed write-ups with visuals and direct links, making it easier to plan your next visit.”

While that quote aptly describes some aspects of destination blogging, it feels as if it falls short of their true function. Ultimately, with those core ingredients, they bolster SL creators as a whole.  

How many weary-eyed web wanderers have considered rest, but fell into a virtual rabbit hole instead because of a well-framed picture and a titillating title? How many have visited those destinations and found vendors, from which they bought? How many have bankrupt themselves on beauty that they educated themselves on how to ‘just make it because it’s cheaper’?  

Destination bloggers make the virtual world go ‘round by going ‘round the virtual world. And of course, we here at inKLine Media always applaud the advancement of the metaverse’s media industry and encourages excessive its praise.

Admittedly, we here at inKLine Media also acknowledge that this simple and appropriate definition sparked some actual reflection on the role of these rovers. So kudos on the quote afterall, SL. You win this round!
