Second Life is a virtual world where anything is possible. Thousands of people from around the world flock to Second Life every day to engage in role play, business, education, global communication, self promotion, creativity and leisure exploration. Others unfortunately are misguided by dark pleasures and hidden agendas. They are the ones holding Second Life back from being taken seriously. Many real world organizations have pulled out of Second Life due to the shenanigans and distasteful activity that can be easily accessed. So easily, even young children can be potentially exposed to it.
Where do we draw the line? Do we turn the other way and keep it movin’ or do we speak up to make SL a better place?

my personal opinion is that we speak up and we sort it out. Where they have gone wrong is ahving “sex sims in search there should have been a special HUD that had these linked and everything should have been PG in the search engine. I feel there is way to much of the “sex” side and having recently spoken to a University Professor in SL who said that his colleagues have pulled out of SL and there is NO WAY would any University want to be associated with SL now.
I feel that this is such a shame as SL has so much to offer, but I do feel that we need to take action and control various elements in SL in order that the business section is taken more seriously and that we can get real life companies back on board.

There’s a really easy way to make sure you don’t see this in your search results.
UNCHECK the “Adult” checkbox.
If the results are still too risque, then UNCHECK the “Moderate” checkbox as well.
Hi Soul Train, While that is an easy option to “uncheck” the adult and or moderate checkboxes, why should responsible adults have to? Why is “rape” allowed to be an event that claims it as a fun thing to do in Second Life? I think you missed the point about the gross nature of that as an activity in Second Life and how it effects the reputation of this virtual world. Perhaps if you were a victim or have a loved one that was raped, you would be more passionate about its banishment.
