The Low Cost of High Fashion
Founded by an certified and highly decorated model and instructor, The Creative Loft gives aspiring models a taste of the industry, the opportunity the discuss fashion and invaluable tips for looking good before laying down loads of Lindens. SLBR sat down with its owner, RedJess69 and the winners from her most recent event—The Dior Style Contest.
SLBR: What gave you the inspiration to start The Creative Loft?
I have been a certified model in SL for over a year and was seeing a lot of people get frustrated with not getting the opportunity to model as there was no place to just learn the basics. So I offer a place for seasoned models to share and help new people interested in modeling.
SLBR: Fashion is a huge industry in SL with tons of potential to make money, yet your business is non-profit. What’s your reasoning for that?
I am here to help people learn what they want and give them a solid understanding of expectations of modeling in SL.
Is TCL open to newcomers of SL? How can TCL serve as a resource to them?
Yes, it is by invite only at the moment. Interested people can ask for the invite.
SLBR: How can they get involved?
Contact me directly: redtess69 resident
Is there anything else you would like to add about TCL, the Dior Style Contest, or yourself/the winners, that I haven’t asked?
We are a fun group of folks just wanting to enjoy bringing fashion to SL. If you want to model and meet fun people around the world that like to talk about fashion, look for **The Creative Loft** and join us! We also have training facility and a lounge for after show parties.

Wanted to improve my sense of style and explore my creative side. This has spilled over to real life, where I am completely redoing my wardrobe/style.

It can provide basic training and advice to people who are experienced with Second Life in general, but who are new to fashion.

I want to learn more about the different styles, and explore my creative side even more. Would like to stand out as being unique, professional, and creative with a distinctive sense of styling. Love to challenge myself with styles such as Avant Garde.

SLBR: What would you like to know about you?
I am thrilled to have taken 3rd place in the Dior Style Contest by TCL. I loved the concept of asking people without modeling degrees to be contestants. I am a very caring person and always ready to assist anyone, particularly people new to SL.
SLBR: How did you get into fashion?
Through the back door! I am first a photographer in SL and ended up in modeling competitions from submitting nice photos of myself. After that, I was hooked in the fashion business.
SLBR: How can The Creative Loft serve as a resource for newcomers to fashion or SL in general?
Sometimes being new to SL means that you are a bit short on what is in your virtual closet (inventory). TCL can totally help in that department! Besides that, you will not meet nicer and more helpful people. Red is a fabulous and amazing woman.
SLBR: Where would you like to see your modeling career go?
I would most prefer my modeling career to focus on print work. Either magazines or vendor ads. I find the work relaxing, fun, and I have a lovely photo in the end!
