The official Second Life blog featured machinima artist Sergio Castellanos for its Second Life Spotlight on Monday.

Castellanos–a Second Lifer for 14 years–founded GioNation, which the blog describes as “a machinima collective and learning space dedicated to storytelling, skill sharing, and uplifting creators in Second Life.”

In the interview, Castellanos’ seemingly approachable personality and humility stands out as he discusses some of the challenges he faced when he first started, his creative process, sources of inspiration and offers advice to aspiring machinima artists. The advice is fairly simple: “Just start”

Of notable interest to inKLine Media, Castellanos cited the formation of The GioNation Institution of Film & Arts–the first university on the urban side of the grid.

“Honestly, the university is one of my proudest accomplishments to this day,” said Castellanos in the interview.
