Interview By Bill Kaye
Bill Kaye: Is this the first club you have owned?
Jenn Silvermoon (onlyjenn): It is. I have only been in the club business since last spring. I was a hostess, then an events manager. BK: So what were the other clubs have you worked in?
JS: I started at Dragon Force Club then Club X-Stream, but they have both failed.
BK: So what makes the difference between a club that fails and one that succeeds?
JS: Well, in the first case, it seemed that the owners did not mesh. Too many disagreements. In the second case, the owners went hog wild.
BK: In terms of spending you mean?
JS: Yes. They started off with champagne dreams on a beer budget. Too much land. They tried to start a mall, but it all takes time to grow. They wanted too much, too soon. yes, I have had days of discouragement, but its the fire within me that keeps me going.
BK: So how did you both come to start your own club and what are you doing different?
JS: My co-owner, Ryanne Foxdale, is my best friend. My business partner is a DJ and she has been in the business since she has been in SL. We support each other. I have never met her in RL, but she is my best friend in general. She is canadian; I am American. So we started our own because we were tired of busting our asses for someone else and did not see it going anywhere. Ryanne and an ex used to have this building as Lake of Fire and it was successful. So she suggested we give it a try.
BK: Having gone through the process, what have you learned makes for running a successful club?
JS: This is sort of funny and we were joking about it last night, but we are sort of like good cop/bad cop. We joke that she is the Dragon Lady and I am the Bunny Lady. She is firm and I have been described as the sweetest person in SL. But I am not a sucker. In notices when I have to enforce stuff, I tell them that if they dont do it I will sic Ry on them.
BK: How big is your staff?
JS: The staff group is at 47 but we have several people on hiatus due to internet issues, etc.
BK: So you have only been on sl for a year and built this up? That’s very impressive.
JS: Bacically we succeed by not exceeding our needs, not being extravagant and growing organically. Our only cost is the land rent and we will be upping that soon.
BK: Anything else you want to tell the people?
JS: Starting in January, A Fallen Mind will be preforming here live on the third Friday of each month. And they will be preforming on New Years Eve.
